LOCATION: Potsdam, NY
Responsible to assist the Food Service Director with the functions of clinical nutrition services (such as nutrition assessment, nutrition counseling/consultation, performance improvement), and the coordination of the clinical nutrition team to ensure high quality nutritional care is provided to patients. Responsible for the development of meal plans for clients, gauging the effects of these meal plans and promoting nutrition through public speaking and community outreach programs, keeping abreast of the latest research in nutritional and food sciences. Works collaboratively with the nutritional team to ensure high patient satisfaction, quality care and regulatory agency compliance. Duties involve oversight of diet techs, buying food, and performing the business tasks of managing the dietary/meal program.
Assists in hiring, leading, coaching, training, and development of the clinical nutrition team members, as well as coordinating all clinical nutrition services, including Dietetic Technicians, contract Dietitians, Nutritionists, and Diabetes Educators
Monitors competency, productivity, and documentation accuracy of clinical nutrition staff utilizing necessary tools and resources.
Assesses the nutritional status of neonates/infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patient through documentation in the medical record. Uses parameters such as anthropometric measurements, visual assessment, and interpretation of laboratory values.
Develops and revises a nutrition care plan based on information from the patient, medical record, family, and health care team members.
Makes recommendations for patient care based upon guidelines as outlined in the current diet manual.
Incorporates current evidence-based research into practice.
Plans regular and modified menus based on current diet manual.
Required: Two (2) years of experience in health services as a Registered Dietitian
Experience in supervision, purchasing and charge master as it relates to billing for nutritional counseling services.
EDUCATION: Registered Dietitian (Commission on Dietetic Registration)
