Discovery Solutions is seeking job seekers for a contract position with one of our customers, Lilly, a leading pharmaceutical company headquartered in Indianapolis, IN.
LOCATION: Winslow, Maine (04901)
DESCRIPTION: The Manufacturing Operator will support the manufacturing processes relative to the department/area in which they are assigned. Operate manufacturing equipment based on the established written procedures and work rules. Responsible for product quality and safety on the assigned line and for achieving production standards in both quantity and quality. Understand and follow cGMP and safety guidelines as required. Follow all safety policies and procedures. Perform light cleaning in order to maintain clean operating environment. Write maintenance summaries of assembly and workstation areas as needed. Execute quality checks in accordance to department/area requirements and document findings. Stocking, sweeping, mopping, and trash removal may be included.
Primary Positions Responsibilities:
The Operator I performs general laboratory functions which include, but are not limited to the following areas:
Inactive virus inoculation and harvest;
Egg traying and candling;
Preparation for and clean up after all production operations;
Washing, wrapping and sterilizing glassware and equipment.
Location Requirements:
Candidates or workers who own birds at their personal property or have come in contact with birds within the last 48 hours are not permitted at the Winslow, Maine facility. Candidates who come in regular contact with any kind of birds are ineligible for this assignment. For manufacturing roles, gowning will require changing clothing in a gender specific common area
SHIFT: Monday - Friday
7:00 am - 3:30 pm
EXPERIENCE: Understands and practices good aseptic technique and biosecurity measures.
Perform routine, repetitive tasks without guidance.
Performs duties according to established SOP's and company safety procedures.
Completes documentation and follows proper review protocol.
Clean up and Preparation work includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Washing, wrapping and sterilizing of glassware and laboratory equipment;
Loading/unloading autoclaves;
Washing ceilings, walls, floors, furniture, fixtures and equipment;
Wrapping and traying of both emulsion and live virus bottles and vials.
Egg handling, which may include receiving, traying, candling, and disposal.
Virus production, including assistance with room and equipment preparation, setup, inoculation, harvest, antigen processing, filling and clean up.
Bacteriology - assists in preparation of media and growth, harvest, processing, and inactivation of antigen.
Tissue culture - assists in preparation of lab, kitchen work, dispensing, and harvesting of antigen.
Emulsion - assist in the preparation, cleaning, mixing, emulsifying of killed antigen formulations
Speed and accuracy of fine hand manipulation and good eye-hand coordination required.
Must be an effective member of a team and be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Must possess proven math skills as well as oral and written communication
Occasional weekend and off-hour work may be required.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and clean room environment may apply.
May be required to work in an area with exposure to potential allergens.
Position may require a certain amount of heavy lifting (up to 60 lbs).
EDUCATION: Associates Degree and previous exposure to aseptic technique and/or other lab sciences preferred
